Nuts BS3692 Low Type - M12 - View 01
BS3692 Low Type nuts (commonly known as thin nuts or hexagon jam nuts) are precision-manufactured six-sided fasteners that are significantly shorter in height than standard metric nuts. Produced to strict BS 3692 standards, they are designed with a reduced thickness to fit into tight spaces where a standard full-size nut would be too bulky. Because they have fewer threads, they are not intended to carry full structural loads on their own; instead, they are typically used as "lock nuts" or "jam nuts" by being tightened against a standard nut to prevent it from loosening under vibration. They are also widely used in low-stress engineering applications, electrical assemblies, and compact mechanical linkages to save weight and space.
